+3

2x + -2(2/3x + 1/3)  =  2

Distribute the -2:

2x + -2(2/3x) + -2(1/3)  =  2

Simplify:

2x -4/3x - 2/3  =  2

Multiply each term by 3 to remove denominators:

3[2x - 4/3x - 2/3]  =  2[3]

Distribute the 3:

3(2x) - (3)(4/3x) - (3)(2/3)  =  6

Simplify:

6x - 4x - 2  =  6

       2x - 2  =  6

             2x  =  8

               x  =  4
