A monomial is a single term, there are no additions or subtractions. There can be multiplications but no divisions by variables.

Examples of monomials:  12,    -7,   2/3,     x,    4x3,    7x4yz2,     -15x7/23,    0,     πr3

These are not monomials:  2x + 7,     14x3/y,     x2 - 3x + 4
