If Saturn is 1.43 x 10^12 km from the sun and earth is 1.5 x 10^8 km from the sun, to find the distance between them subtract:

       1.43 x 10^12  -  1.5 x 10^8

Get the same exponent on 10:

       1.43 x 10^12  =  1.43 x 10^4 x 10^8  =  1.43 x 10000 x 10^8  =  14300 x 10^8

      14300 x 10^8 - 1.5 x 10^8  =  14298.5 x 10^8

But, we can't be that precise, so rounding it, we have: 14300 x 10^8  =  1.43 x 10^12

A rather surprising answer, but Saturn is 10000 times farther away from the sun as we are!
