you can find the solution by graphing, by using the quadratic formula, by completing the square, and by factoring.

By factoring:  (x + 1)(x + 1)  =  0

To solve this:  set  x + 1  = 0    -->  x = -1

The other factor will again give you the solution:  x = -1.
