what is the solution of

y = x       (1)

y= -x+2   (2)      

Sub (1)  into (2)

x = -x+ 2       add x to both sides

2x  = 2          divide both sides by 2

x  = 1      ...   and  y  = x  .....   so..........  y  = 1
