What is the solution to the system of equations? y = 1.5x – 4 y=-4

The solution to the system of equations:

     y  =  1.5x - 4

     y  =  -4

 

Replace the y-term in the first equation with -4:

     -4  =  1.5x - 4           Add 4 to both sides:

      0  =  1.5x                 Divide both sides by 1.5:

       0  =  x

 

The solution is:  x = 0,  y = -4
