y = (1/3)x - 1

Set the y's equal, and we have

2x - 8   = (1/3)x - 1      subtract (1/3)x from both sides....add 8 to both sides

(5/3)x = 7       multiply both sides by (3/5)

x = (3/5) * 7   =  21 / 5   = 4 + 1/5
