y=x-2
y=-2x+7     

substituting for y in the second, we have

x - 2  = -2x + 7     add 2x to both sides and add 2 to both sides

3x = 9                   divide by 3 on both sides

x = 3

So....y = 3 - 2   = 1

So the answer is (3, 1)
