Just multiply the two numbers together like this:

55 x (-11) = -605 and that is it.

\(\frac{x}{55}=-11\)

\(55\times\frac{x}{55}=-11\times55\)

\(\frac{55x}{55}=-11\times55\)

\(\frac{1x}{1}=-11\times55\)

\(\frac{x}{1}=-11\times55\)

\(x=-11\times55\)

\(x=-605\)

"What number do you need to divide 55 by to get (-11)"

55/x = -11

x = 55/(-11)

x = -5
