x+3(x+1)=2x

Looks to me like it's only the 3 that multiplies (x + 1), in which case we have

 

x + 3x + 3 = 2x

4x + 3 = 2x

Subtract 2x from each side

2x + 3 = 0

Subtract 3 from each side

2x = -3

Divide both sides by 2

x = -3/2 or x  -1.5
