(X+7)(x-1)=(x+1)^2

Expand (X+7)(x-1)

=x^2+6x-7

Expand (x+1)^2

=x^2+2x+1

Then write this

x^2+6x-7=x^2+2x+1

subtract this from both sides x^2+2x+1

That leave this.

4x-8=0

Then

4x=8

Divide by 4

This is the answer

X=2
