when im trying to get y=mx+b out of y=1/6x-1/2-6, what do i do to combine like terms? I am very confused on this part.

\(m=\frac{\Delta Y}{\Delta X } \)

 

\(m=\frac{-6-(-7)}{3-(-3)}\)


\(m=\frac{1}{6}\)

 

 

\(\frac{1}{6} =\frac{y-(-7)}{x-(-3)}\)

 

\(\frac{x+3}{6}-7 = y\)

 

\(\frac{x-39}{6}= y\)

y=1/6x-1/2-6

y = 1/6x - (1/2+6)

y= 1/6x - 6 1/2
