I think that you just want to solve

4x - 1 = 0

You have to think about what needs to be done to get x by itself on the left hand side. Don't think about the right hand side.
First you need to get rid of -1, what is the opposite of taking 1 away? The opposite would be to add 1 on.
So add 1 to the left hand side. However if you add one to the left then you have to add 1 to the right or the the equation won't be equal anymore.
that is
4x - 1 +1 = 0+1
4x = 1
x multiplied by 4 = 1

now what do you have to get rid ot the 4, what is the opposit of multiplying by 4? Dividing by 4 is the answer.
so divide BOTH sides by 4 and you will have your answer

so your fist ordered pair is (0,-4)

so your second ordered pair is (3,2)

Now plot (0,-4) and (3,2) on a number plane and join the two points together with a ruler,
The line you draw will keep going past each of the 2 points.

Write y=2x-4 on your line.

Well, the largest side is opposite the largest angle, but i'm assuming you're trying to find the length of the largest side.
Is your triangle a right triangle? If so, the long side would be the hypotenuse and you could find that with this equation...

a^2=b^2+c^2

Where a is the hypotenuse and b and c are the other two sides.

If it's an obtuse or scalene triangle then you could use the law of cosines...

a^2=b^2+c^2 - 2bc*cos(A)

Where a is the side you're looking for and b and c are the other sides and A is the angle opposite the side you're looking for.
That probably doesn't make much sense, but let me know if it helps! ^_^

Well, think about it thins way. if 17 is greater than 5x + 2, then X has to equal 2. because 5x means that whatever x is, has to be multiplied by 5 so the answer is.. X = 2

Your equation can be written
0 = e^x+ln(x)-7

If you graph y=e^x+ln(x)-7

then the solution to your equation will be the x value when the graph intersects with y=0

that is, the x intercept will be the solution to your equation.

1/4 = 0.25 (A quarter of a dollar is 25c = $0.25)
2+0.25=2.25

Another way to think of it might be
1/4 = 25% = 0.25
or
1/4 = 25/100 = 0.25

It would be easier to help with a specific question but one example would be;
1/square root(3)

to rationalise the denominator, you multiply by square root(3)/square root(3)

result is

square root(3)/3

there is nothing further needed to simplify here... but the denominator is rational.
