30 divided by -3/4

When a number is divided by a fraction, you multiply it by the fraction's reciprocal (flip the numerator and denominator).

So 30/ (-3/4)

= 30 * (-4/3)

Multiply the numerators and denominators.

= (30*-4) / (1*3)

= -120/3

Simplify.

= -40

Another way would be to write -3/4 as the decimal -0.75

Then, divide 30 by -0.75

= -40

Let's find the slope (m) between these points..we have

m = [0 - (-1)] / [4 - 2]  =  1/2

So, using one of the points (we can choose either, but (4,0) makes the problem easier) and the slope, we have

y - y₁   = (m)(x- x₁ )

y - 0 = (1/2) (x -4)

y = (1/2)x - 2

Checkimg this with the second point, we have

-1 = (1/2)(2) - 2

-1 = 1 - 2

-1 = -1

Looks like   y = (1/2)x - 2   is correct

I got the same answer as you anonymous but it doesn't help learning take place if you only give an answer.
