Hi Vraces,
Why don't you show us what you have done and then we can explain where you are going wrong.

how much tax would be on 113.98 at 9%

10.26

You multiply the number (113.98) by the percentage (9%) Which you have to turn in to a decimal by moving the decimal ( originally behind number ex. 9.) to the left 2 times to become .09

113.98 x 1.09 = answer
answer - 113.98 = tax

Yes. I'm aware of that. But, the problem is I still cannot solve it.
[ANSWER]
y = 1
x = 3

Please show me how to get to these anwers. I know the subsmethod, but I can't seem to solve this one.

annual rate 4.8% so monthly rate 4.8/12 = .4% per month

5 years = 12 * 5 = 60 months

15000*(1+.004)^(60) = 19059.61

first: you can define x in terms of y or alternatively: define y in term of x

Lets say you have defined x in terms of y from the first equation.

Then you substitute your new definition of x (in terms of y) into the second equation.

This will give you a strightforwrd equation containing only numbers and terms containing y, which you can solve simply, giving you a result for y = a number.

Then, going back to the first equation you can substitute your number for y, and solve for x.

Pimps!

Hello Melody,

No you are simply fine I understand. I went on another website I help student's on from around the world and there I found her there so I seen that she had posted the same question twice.
I didn't mean to give her some complex answers, but the questions she had asked me I've seen multiple times and are even in a book of mine which is kind of peculiar? Anyways everyone has their own opinion Stay beautiful !
Adieu !

Thank you Melody,
those are some kind words. I used to be bullied throughout middle school and High school and I won't tolerate it anywhere from it being in
person to an online website. It's sad to see this generation become so cruel to others rather then t be nice once in awhile. So I'm glad for
myself and others who agree with me. Thank you again melody I appreciate it

Love,
Veronica

Ryu:
How do I evaluate F(x) = -2x+6, and then find: F(-1/2)

You have to replace the x with -1/2 and then calculate the answer.

Don't forget that there is a multiply sign between the -2 and the x

MelodyDec 11, 2013

Answer is 7,
Simply substitute x with -1/2.

Can you give me an example of a division that you would like to able to do?
Also, if you tell me how old you are it might help.
I assume you want to do it without a calculator.

If it is one like this,

8 divided by 2 then you can think of it like this

There are 8 lollies and you divide them between 2 children. How many lollies do they each get,
Can you do this one?

how much tax would be on 113.98 at 9%

113.98 X 0.9 = 9% so, when you get that 9% do:
113.98 + 9%

for short -> 113.98 + (113.98 x 0.9)

Let me clean something up. 9%= .09, not .9 or anything else.
with .9, the 9 is in the tenths place, so 9 over 10, or 9/10. When you make that a percentage [make the denominator(bottom #) a 100], you multiply the fraction (9/10) by ten on both the top and the bottom, meaning (90/100), or 90%. We don't want to be making that kind of mistake. If you are ever given a percent and have to use it as a decimal, say you're given 13%, you take the number used as a percent, 13, or 13.0, and move the decimal over 2 spaces to the left: .13=13%
If you're given .05%, you do the same thing, move the decimal in .05 over two spaces to the left: .0005=.05%

Ok, now to answer the question and correct one more thing. The question this person is asking is HOW MUCH TAX would be on 113.98 at 9. Not, respectively, how much something would cost with tax added/subtract from it, so the answer is simply the percent(as a decimal) times the value.
[113.98x(.09)]

Write it as a fraction and then multiply by 100 and put a % sign.

Professor Lopez,
I think that you dealt with this situation really well.
Katherine can came back if she changes her mind but we don't want any bullying on this forum. And it is really good that you have told her so.

z= ___7320-7500_________
___ 302___
square root of 52

The z score is -2.05, the problem consists of two fractions (7320-7500/302/square root of 52). How do you get to the answer, I have calculated so many times and still not the right answer.[

I am having a major problem understanding the question.
Is this part of a bigger question? This is just the two fractions within the problem and I even rewrote

The z-score formula is
Z = ( X - mean) / standard deviation

What are all those long lines in your question?
Perhaps you can re-phrase your question so I can understand.
