Fairly certain that isn't an inequality. Looks to me like a simple algebraic equation for solving "x." Did you list the wrong equation or enter the wrong title? I'll just assume that you miss-dubbed the title and help you with the answer to the problem as written.

5/9+3/4x=2/3x-1/6x

Get all of the fractions with x beside them to have the least common denominator, in this case, 24 (24 is the lowest number 4, 3, and 6 can go into).

You will end up with: 5/9 + 18/24x = 16/24x - 4/24x

Adding the fractions with "x" attached on the right side, we get 5/9 + 18/24x = 12/24

Then subtract 18/24 from the both sides so we can get all the "x fractions" together. We end up with: 5/9 = -6/24x

Now that we have all the "x fractions" added together, we can simplify the "x fraction" we have left so it will be easier to get rid off what is attached to the x. The result is 5/9 = -1/4x.

Now we have to get x by itself. To do this, we multiply both sides by the reciprocal of -1/4 (-4 or -4/1). This leaves us with -20/9 = x.

Thus, -20/9 is your answer. (Ugly, I know.) Plugging -20/9 back into the equation, you will find that everything works so the answer is assured to be correct. Hope that helps! (If it's actually an inequality, repost it and I'll try to help you out as soon as possible.)

\displaystyle \frac or \dfrac work to make fractions bigger.

Furthermore, many sites support multiple delimiters for latex that behave slightly differently.
If you use $$\frac 1 2$$ or [ math ]\frac 1 2[ /math ] you often get bigger ("displaystyle") latex, while $\frac 1 2$ generates small ("inline") latex.

"What percent of 24 is 12?" When you see the word "of" in a word problem, you should automatically think "times," and when you see "is," you should automatically think "equals." Rewriting the question with that in mind, we get, "What percent (let's sub in A for this variable) of (times) 24 is (equals) 12?" or "A x 24 = 12" From here, it's simple algebra. Divide both sides by 24 so as to get "A" by itself, and you're left with: "A = 0.5" Since they asked for the percent, however, we must convert the decimal into a fraction. Thankfully, this one's pretty easy. 0.5 is 1/2 (one-half). Thus, your answer is "1/2." Plugging "1/2" back in for "What percent" will show you that the answer is correct. Hope that helps!

Negative ten-thirds is your answer. Take the initial equation of -3x +2 = 12, subtract two from both sides so as to get x "by itself," coming out with -3x=10. Then divide both sides by -3 so you can end up with x = ___, you come out with x = 10/-3, which is negative ten-thirds. Plugging the answer in for "x," you will see that the equation makes sense. To simplify this you have to multiply top and bottom by the conjugate of the denominator. That is (sqrt(3)-4)
That will rationalize the denominator.
You will then need to simplify anything that you can to leave it in its most presentable state

Hi everybody,
Another busy day. I think that Rom and 'Someone' answered the most questions. Thank you for all your efforts.
Hi, someone, It is nice to meet you. I don't think that we have met you before, It would be really nice if you joined up properly. There are a number of advantages but I don't think that I will go into them all now.
There were many other great answers from jyotig, Letchersavanna, dealor and a number of 'guests' A big thank you is given to all of you.

* I also received a nice thank you from a guest. It is always nice when people show appreciation.
* Happyfeet has started her? own snark thread named "Why so hard" A couple of people have joined in the fun, including myself. If you don't like insincere threads I suggest you stay clear of this one.
* There was a new 1+1 post and I am please that everyone ignored it. That particular snark is getting a bit tiresome.
* There was one crude post. I was tossing up whether to say anything. I think that if it had been very near the top I may have, but it had already moved down the list and if it had been responded to, that would have put it back at the top again. If it is left alone it moves off the first page quicker. Did I do the right thing or should I have said something. Any thoughts?

* I used the display feature of the web site calculator today for the very first time. It was very appropriate to the question. Thanks Reinout-g, if you had not brought it to our attention it would have continued to be an ignored resource (by me anyway).

I would like to suggest that people look at their own answer posts at the end of the day. Sometimes they have been added to by others. There may have been a problem or someone may be trying to communicate with you.
Also, I think that looking at other people's posts is always a good idea. You may learn content or you may get alternate ideas on how to present that content. I have learned a lot by watching others.
