Think about it this way....we have 35 equal parts of 700 voters..........17/35 are men.........18/35 are women......do you see how to get the answer???

Ignore the minus sign for a moment

Think of a right angled triangle

cos(theta)=adjacent / hypotenuse

The hypotenuse is the longest side so cos(theta) must be between 0 and 1 (for a right triangle 0 and 1 are not included)

When you extend this idea to include all values of cos then it can be between -1 and 1

I doubt that you want part plates so it woud depend on the exact shape of the 30square metre plate.

For instance if it was 100 cm by 300m you would get none because it is not wide enough!

CPhill has worked out that the MAXIMUM number of full plates is 10 

I would have used calculus rather than physics formulas but i suppose the answer would have been the same.

Angles are measured in degrees minutes and seconds!  Not in inches.
