When you flip a fair coin (notice the problem should've noted the coin was fair), there are always 2 outcomes (heads/tails). Therefore, by the Multiplication Principle, (look that up if you don't know what it is) the answer is 5 * 2  = 10

Yay now I figured it out!!!!

We know that a/b = r

Then a = rb

so a + b = rb + b = b(r + 1)

a - b = rb - b = b(r - 1)

Therefore the ratio is (b(r+1))/(b(r-1))

This is just (r+1)/(r-1)

And that's the answer!!!!!

Here is a way:

Vertex value of 'x' is at   -b/2a     soooo     -b/2a = 2  (1) 

                                                  and when x = 2        f(x)=4

                                                            4 = a(2^2)+b(2) + c   or  4 = 4a+2b+c         (2)

    and you are given point 1,1            1 = a(1^2)+b(1)+c     or   1 = a+b+c            (3)       3 equations , 3 unknowns

re-arrange (1) :   -b/2 = 2a      multiply by 2

                               -b =4a          sub into (2)

 4 = -b+2b+c    4 = b+c     c = 4-b

Take (3) and multiply by 4     4 = 4a + 4b + 4c  

                                             4 = -b+4b + 4(4-b)    so b = 12    then     -b/2a=2 means   a = -3      then a + b + c =1 means c = -8

Divisibility rule for 9 is if all the numbers sum up to a multiple of 9, then the number is divisible by 9.

Any number made of digits 1 through 9 is divisilble by 9.

so basically the question is now:

Find the smallest number using digits 1-9 that is divisible by 11.

We start with 123456789. Because its the smallest.

Using the picture above, we get

1 + 3 + 5 + 7 + 9 = 25

2 + 4 + 6 + 8 = 20

25 - 20 = 5. Which is not divisible by 11.

So how can we manipulate the red and blue numbers to create a result that is divisble by 11?
