The sum of the degrees in any triangle is 180 degrees

(x+10)+(3x-5)+x=180

5x+(10-5) = 180

5x+5=180

5x = 175

x=35

I got -24 which was wrong and i dont know how to do the second question

The sum of the roots  =  -b/a

So  3 - 2  =  -b/a   =  1      which implies  that  -a  = b

The product of the roots = c/a

So   (-2)(3)   = c/a

-6 = c/a

-6a  = c

In the second polynomial we  have that

-6ax^2  - ax + a  =  0      divide through by a

-6x^2  - x  + 1  =  0

6x^2  + x - 1  =  0

(3x -1) (2x + 1)  =  0

Set both factors to 0  and solve for  x  and we have that

x = 1/3      and  x   =  -1/2

Just the reciprocals of the original roots....that's a neat result   !!!!!

sqrt (x^2 + 1) + (x^2 + 1)  = 90

Let  u  =   sqrt (x^2 + 1)

And u^2  =(x ^2 + 1)

So  we  have

u + u^2  =  90          rearrange  as

u^2  + u  -  90    =   0      factor

(u + 10)  ( u - 9)   =   0

Set each factor to  0  and solve for u  and we have that

u = -10            u  = 9

This  means  that

sqrt (x^2 + 1)   = -10        this  has no real solutions

         or

sqrt (x^2 + 1)  =  9          square both sides

x^2  + 1   = 81      subtract 1 from both sides

x^2  = 80      take both roots

x = ±√80

x = ±4√5

By Vieta's Theorem.....the  sum of the roots  =   3k

And the product of  the roots  =  k - 1

Call  r  the other root

So    

5 + r  =  3k       ⇒  (5+ r) / 3  =  k

And

5r  = k - 1

So....this implies that

5r  =  (5 + r) /3  - 1       multiply through by 3

15r  = 5 + r  - 3

15r  = 2 + r

14r  =  2

r  = 2/14   =   1/7

Actually....it's really easy to solve this kind of problem  !!!

Note  that Jo  mows  1/50  of  the yard in one minute  and Chris mows 1/30  of the yard in one minute

So   add these fractions

1/50  + 1/30   =   [ 30 + 50 ] / 1500  =   80  /150   =   8/15

Take  the reciprocal....this is the time it will take if both work together

15/8  =   [ 1 + 7/8 ] hrs  

And  7/8  hrs   =  (7/8)*60   =  52.5 min

So    60  + 52.5     =    112.5 min

Question 2

\(f(x)=x^2 - x^3\) is just a function, thus we can substitute \(-2\) into every \(x\).

Doing so we get \(f(-2)=(-2)^2-(-2)^3\) which equals \(f(-2)=4+8=\boxed{12}\)

Therefore the answer is \(\boxed{D}\)
