First, get a common denominator for both fractions. You have 12 and 8, find the least common multiple between those two and that'll be your denominator for both fractions! Note that you changed the denominator by multiplying by some number, so you have to multiply the numerator by the same number!

Then, just add your fractions together and that's it. Divide if you wish to obtain a decimal answer.

OK......let's multiply the second equation by -1 all the way through...so we have....

  -[ y = -(1/4)x -3 ]  →  -y = (1/4)x +3

Now add this equation to the first one......so we have

  y = (1/2)x +3

-y = (1/4)x +3

0 = (3/4)x + 6

Subtract 6 from both sides

-6 = (3/4)x     multiply both sides  by 4/3

-24/3 = x = -8

y = -4 + 3

y = -1

Think what the ^3 means? You know that 2^3 = 2*2*2 = 8. So, apply the same technique to this problem. Then, you can divide if you wish to obtain a rounded decimal answer.

Yes, its just like reading a book left to right. You do the order the equation is written, unless you have a more complicated equation such as quadratic funtions and others. But in your case this equation is written so it doesnt matter how you do it expect if you do it from the middle then you might mess up. I say just sticking to going left to right. You'll learn more about these things later. :)

You can put this into the onsite calculator....However here's a method that works well when we have two fractions that have "1" as numerators:

Write the second denominator first, then write the sign between the fractions, and then write the first denominator.

So we have ....  30 - 7  = 23

Multiply both denominators   30 * 7 = 210

Put the first result over the second.........

23/210

And there's your answer......note....we might have to reduce this if the denominators have common factors, but that's not the case here.

im sure this question does not make sense and your posting it for fun but still let me tell u that im sorry but this dosnt make sense!

This would be the same thing as

4y³ + 2y

Both of theses number can be divided by 2. This means we can divide both numbers by 2, and put the 2 on the outside to be multiplied out. This is fine to do because if we divide dboth numbers by 2, then multiply them both by 2, we get the same outcome.

4y³ + 2y

2(2y³ + y)

Both of these numbers can also be divided by y. Let's do this and

2y(2y²+1)

We get a 1 when we divide y by y, because any number divided by itself equals one.

Our final answer is: 2y(2y²+1)

A log is just an exponent (power), rosala..let me demostrate....

For example  log₂ (8)   says this....what power (exponent) do we put on "2" (called the base) to raise this to 8 ?? The answer is "3.'   This is because 2³ = 8  !!!

The most common bases are 10 and "e"  (e ≈ 2.718)  ...Normally, the base 10 log is notated without the base - the base is understood to be 10 - and the base "e" log is notated as "ln"  ......called the "natural log".......the natural log base is extremely useful in many scientific applications.  So base 10 log  of 100 would be notated as  log(100) and the natural log of 100 would be notated as ln(100).

(Note.....We can actually use any positive number - except 1 - as a base!!!)
