We can't raise any positive number to a power (exponent) and expect a negative value in return.
In other words, 8^t can never be negative (or 0).....thus "t" is undefined....

Minus numbers or terms are 'cold'
so here you are adding cold so the room will gett colder. So + - is replaced with a -
