The formula for the surface area of a sphere is :  SA  =  4·π·r²

Since the radius is 14:  SA  =  4·π·(14)²

tan(45)  =  60/x

Multiply both sides by x:

tan(45)·x  =  60

Divide both sides by tan(45):

x  =  60/tan(45)

pens and paper are more user friendly as u dont have to type a bunch of cunfusing looking stuf from all over ur paper up on a screen configured for text. the calculator DOES have its small niche in the math world that grows considerably larger as ur basic math knowledge decrease(or lazyness increases). Some stuff can not be worked out on paper, however most of it can. The ancient greeks and the romans that u are so proud of had to do most of this stuff in their heads. Just because the abacus had traveled the silk road from china did not mean the ancients could use it to solve there x's and y's, as we can not for the most part on modern calcs unless u want to get some funky number. algebra is math+logic so u cant use a mathmatical insterment to carry out logic-unless u like getting Fs on ur report card

Ok, heres what i got:   2x^2+5x-3

                                   --------------(devided by)  <0

                                      x^2-4

         simplify to 2xx+5x-3

                           -----------(devided by)<0

                              xx-4

the double x's(squares) cancel each other out leaving u with 5x-3

                                                                                                 ------(devided by)<0

                                                                                                    -4

now check that with a number less than zero, like -3 perhaps

5(-4)                   -20

------        =         ------           =5      this means it worked so 5x-3/-4 is the correct answer

Just suppose two numbers to be X and Y
Then according to the data given in question 
  You can say  X + Y = -96   ----- (i)
  and             (X)x(Y) = -10 ----- (ii)

then by using equation (i)  X + Y = -96 => X = -96 - Y 

Put X = -96 - Y in equation (ii)

(-96 - Y)Y = -10

-96Y - Y² = -10

Now just simplify the above equation (either by making factors, if possible or just use quadratic formula).

You'll get two values for Y then put them in equation (i) to get values of X
