"In 10 years, twice John's age decreased by Mary's age is 35."
Choice 1 doesn't solve the problem because Mary is also 10 years older by then.

For that choice to be correct, the system of equations would have to look like this.
y = x + 5 and y + 10 = 2 (x + 10)

How about this question. I am looking for 2 numbers.
they multiply to give 12 and add to give -7
what would the signs be, and what would the numbers be?

The number are

-3 + -4 = -7
-3 * -4 = -12

Should I put () around these numbers? It looks funny when I type them with out them.

I played with this one for a long time and still havent found an answer.
The closest I found is

(100-(25-7)/3)*7+75 = 733 only 1 so far that =733

100*7+25+7+3 = 735
(100*3+75)*7*7/25 = 735 +2 more that = 735

(100-3)*7+75+7-25 = 736
only 1 so far that =736

It mite be like the one my friend gave me that only has one answer. Ill show it to him and see what he says.

This is more fun than homework.
I try to find ones that dont need () then do others
I do them with paper then a calculator for the harder answers
I found 17 answers so far.
Here is 7 answers

50*6-10-3 = 287
50*6-10-9/3 = 287
50*(6-2)+10*9-3 = 287
10*(9*2+6)+50-3 = 287
(9*2+6)*10+50-3 = 287
These 2 are neet. same numbers but 1 divides and 1 multiplies just move the )
50*(9-6/2)-10-3 = 287
50*(9-6)*2-10-3 = 287

My friend say he has numbers that only has 1 answer. I dont know how he knows it only has one but I havent found any answers so far and its ben a week. If you want to play with them just tell me and I will list it here maybe you can find the answer.

If John leaves his money in the account for just 1 month then he has left it there for just 1 compounding period. so n=1
what will n be if [Note: Put n = every time ]
c) john leaves the money there for 2 months Ans: n= 2
d) for 3 months Ans: n= 3
e) for 4 months Ans: n=4
f) for 8 months Ans: n= 8
g) for 1 year Ans: n= 12
h) for 18 months Ans: n= 18
g) for 3 years Ans: n= 36

The reason why I did that was he compounded 1 monthly for each month so 3 months will = 3. Going on holidays in 2 days xD then when I come back I should be ready to start school and be ready for compound interest as I skip the first week of school...

Yes okay Random. That was a fair answer. Not exactly what I had in mind but fair none the less.

The main thing that I wanted you to get out of those questions was that if you have money in a specific compounding account, it doesn't matter how long you leave your money there, the interest rate per compounding period ' r ' will stay the same.

I want you to copy this question and put the answers after each of my questions. So that the answers stay with the question.

You need to describe your triangle better before anybody can answer this question.
You have angleX, angleY and angleZ X must be the right angle because x is the hypotenuse (x is the same as YZ)
But we don't know which side is 21m or which angle is 52 degrees.
Also, you haven't actually told us what you need to find

just put

then take all the terms to one side and put equal to 0
then solve as a quadratic equation.

so

2.53x 10 ^-5 + 4.1 x 10 ^-6

= 2.53 x 10 ^-5 + 4.1 x 10 ^-1 x 10 ^-5

= 2.53 x 10 ^-5 + 0.41 x 10 ^-5

= (2.53 + 0.41) x 10 ^-5

= 2.94 x 10 ^-5

Or, you could just do it on a calculator

simplify (64/81)^( -3/2)

This would be a much more likely question, is the answer 729/512 = 1 and 217/512 = 1.4238 (5 sig figures)

This is a tricky one.
If the rate of interest is 9.2% per year, what is the rate of interest for a quarter of a year? This is the interest rate that you will use.

You actually need to work out what the total will be after 1 quarter, then
You actually need to work out what the total will be after 2 quarter, then
You actually need to work out what the total will be after 3 quarter, then
You actually need to work out what the total will be after 4 quarter, then

Then your interest for the last quarter will be the total after 4 quarters - the total after 3 quarters.
