What you call braking acceleration, I would call deceleration.

I think that the easiest way is to ignore the minus sign just for a moment.
Now,
Draw a right angled triangle, let one of the acute angels be x.
put 3 and 4 on the correct sides for Cot.
find the other side, use pythagoras if you need to but it is easy.
Read cos x straight off your triangle.

Now you can't ignore the minus any longer.
Cot x is negative
If cot x is negative then 1/cotx which is tan x must also be negative.
In which quadrants is tanx negative?
Will cos x be positive or negative in those quadrants?

Hopefully that will be enough for you to answer your question.

There are several ways to do this kind of problem. You could cross multiply and you get your answer. If you do that then you get
48*x = 56*6
48x=336
x=7
Or you could simplify the left side, 48/56. You know 8 goes into both of them so you end up getting 6/7=6/x and you can tell x=7 by looking at that.

Okay, that is good but I would still like to see your working.
Working and your setting out is extremely important in mathematics.
You have probably seen me answer lots of questions for other people.
Try to do it the way I would. Only ever put one equal sign per line.
If you were doing it on paper you would line all your equal signs up under each other.
Unfortunately, on the forum that is too difficult .
The question was
5(a+4)=6-(a-9)

Hi Mika,
Well, I don't know about a trick. Knowing your tables would certainly help.
We could work a few together, would that help?
When you write them at home, always write your fractions upright. I can't do it here, which is a real pity.
always copy what I write onto a piece of paper but make your fractions upright, numerator over denominator.

Let's start with an easy one 6/4
Since both numbers are even they can be cancelled down by 2.
That means
6/4 =>( 6divided by 2) / (4 divided by 2) => 3/2

Now, you probably know what 1/2 a cake looks like.
The denominator (the number on the botton) tells you that the cake has been cut into 2 pieces.
The 1 on the top tells you that you have taken 1 of those peices.

So, 3/2 means that you have cut your cakes (there can be more than one cake) into 2 pieces. and you have taken 3 of those pieces. How many cakes do you have. I mean how would your usually say it?

I want you to answer this but i also want you to tell me if this stuff is too basic or not, and if possible, I would like you to offer another question that we could work on together.

Perhaps you can eliminate the parentheses?
If you have something like (a + b) (a - b) that is equal to a^2 - b^2.
Perhaps that helps?

That depends on the braking acceleration.
In my country the required minimum is 7 m/s^2 (metric system I'm afraid).

The formula that I know is:

v^2 = 2 a s

where v is the initial speed, a is the braking acceleration, and s is the braking distance (skid marks).
Or perhaps you have another formula?

Assuming a "skid acceleration" of say 7 m/s^2 (or do you have another value?), can you calculate the speed?

That depends on how many numbers were combined to make 784. For example, if there was one number (784), then the mean would be 784. If it was 2 numbers, then the mean would be 392. How to find it is take the total, in this case 784, and divide it by the amount of numbs that went into it.
