OK. I'm doing one question at a time so that you understand what is being asked and how to get the answer. Question E is asking " How much would they get if they sold the house after 5 years?". Well, you know from question D how much the house lost in value after 5 years. We got $4,275.00 right?

So the house, in theory, is only worth : $285,000 - $4,275.00 =$280,725. This is only theoretical because, in fact, there are commissions and fees and even taxes they may pay, but that is NOT included here, so you don't have to worry about it.

Oh, I see now, for C.) I got confused with the labeling of the tables and was looking at year 6 end not year 5.

so E.) and F.) left. F.) is basically asking how much money they had to pay the company for renting the bedrooms right? So would that be How much they ended up paying minus the tax? Then for E.) is what, would the person buying the house just have to buy what they hadn't paied in mortagage?

NO!!. C is wrong. Look at the balance after 60 payments, which is 5 years x 12 =60 months. The balance is in front of you as; $210,595.50.

Question D is asking " How much did the house drop in value after 5 years". What percentage did the house drop in 5 years? Look at the end of your question. It says 1.5%. So, you take the value of the house when they purchased it, which was $285,000 x 1.5% =$4,275.00, which is how much the house lost in its value after 5 years.

so B.) is 1569.87

C.) is 200, 228.12?

how do I figure out D.) E.) and F.) then?

That amortization table is the mortgage of Mike's parents. From it, in the top, you will see the "monthly payment", which is question "b". Then go down to the end of the 5th year, and you will see the balance of the mortgage after 5-year term, which is the answer to question "c". Make sure that you click on "Monthly Schedule" NOT "Annual Schedule".

Yes I have a financial calculator,  a texas instruments TI-83 Plus and I know the jist of how to use it. And I know what an amortization table is, we've been using expel spreedsheet in class with these sorts of problems but I dont have it at home myself.

that symbol means the number after it can either be positive or negative.

using only that info, the answer is 2/3 of a chip i think.

If  (1, -4) is on f(x)......then  ( -4, 1)  is on f^-1 (x)

So.....

f^-1 (-4)  = 1

So

[ f^-1(-4)]^-1  =   [ 1 ]^-1  =   1

So   ( -4,1)   is also on  [ f^-1(x)]^-1

Do you use or have a financial calculator? And if so, which one do you use? Also, do you understand what an "amortization table" is? If you answer these questions, then I might be able to help you.

ab  =  3a + 2b + c

ab - 3a  =  2b + c

a [ b - 3]  = 2b + c

a =  [ 2b + c ] / [ b - 3]

excuse me, so the new point is (-4,1), but how did you get the -4...... since you only get that 1  so confused

f(1)  = -4

f^-1(-4)  =  1

So

[f^-1 (-4)]^-1  =    [1]^-1     =   1   so the point is    (-4, 1 ) 

For question 23 i struggle with understanding why the equation is y= -1/2x + c 

A = (-2, 0)    B = (0,4)   the slope of this line is  2

So....a perpendicular line to this will have the slope  =  -1/2

And since this line passes through  (5, -1) we have that

y = (-1/2)(x - 5) - 1

y =  (-1/2)x + 5/2 - 1

y = (-1/2)x + 3/2

The "c"  comes from the standard form of a line.....

Ax + By   = C

Subtract Ax from both sides

By  =  -Ax + C     divide both sides by B

y =  (-A/B) x  +  C/B 

Using what we know      -A/B  = the slope =  -1/2     y = -1    and x = 5

-1  = (-1/2) (5)  +  C/B

3/2  = C/B      where C/B   =  "c"

That means 4 of them in the race, with the last one is 11 miles from the starting line, which is 2.1 miles from the finish line.

That is a simple division answer. Take the total miles divided by how far each water stop is. Only so many water stops can be in that distance.

Your question doesn't make sense !!. A computer chip is the size of a man's thumbnail, which is about 1 cm long.  15 nm =1/150,000 of 1 millimeter, which means you cannot see it with a naked eye !! It is about 1/3 the size of a typical virus!!.

Here is yet another way.

A quadratic equation can be in the form:  y - k  =  a(x - h)²  , where  (h, k)  is the vertex.

They tell us the vertex is  (-6, -14) , so we can say our equation is

y - -14  =  a(x - -6)²

y + 14  =  a(x + 6)²

Since  17  is a root, we know that when  x = 17 ,  y = 0 .

So plug in  17  for  x  and  0  for  y  and solve for  a .

0 + 14  =  a(17 + 6)²

14  =  a(529)

a  =  14 / 529

So now we can say our equation is

y + 14  =  (14 / 529)(x + 6)²          Plug in  0  for  y  to find the roots.

14  =  (14 / 529)(x + 6)²

1  =   (1 / 529)(x + 6)²

529  =  (x + 6)²

x  =  ± 23 - 6

x  =  -29     or     x  =  17
