The diagonal is the hypotenuse of the right triangle formed with the two sides of the lawn as legs

Pythagorean theorem for right triangles    a^2 + b^2 = c^2     a and b are legs and c is hypotenuse

sqrt ( 48^2 + 61^2) = hypotenuse   (the diagonal) =~77.6 ft

Both answers are correct......   substitute them into the original equation to see !  

Volume of a square pyramid = a^2  h/3       Where a= base length = 16 ft for this pyramid and h= 15

16^2  * 15/3  = 768 ft^3

so both answer will count? or I need to put one of them?

And we subtracted 2 from the y coordinate of P  to get the y coordinate of P'

So...we need to do the same to the coordinates of Q...so we have

(-16 + 6, 8 - 2)  =  (-10, 6)  =   Q'

y = x^2 + 3x -3    (2)

Sub  (1)  into (2)

x  =  x^2  +3 x  - 3     subtract x from both sides

 0  =  x^2 + 2x - 3      factor

0  =  ( x + 3) ( x - 1)

Setting  both of the factors equal to 0  we have that

x + 3  =  0              x - 1  = 0

x  =  - 3                  x  =  1

Note..if  x  = y   .....then  (1, 1)  is a solution  ⇒  "C"

x^2 -10x =56     take 1/2  the 'b' coefficient  (-10)     square it and add it to both sides of the equation

x^2 -10x + 25 = 56 +25   now you can do this:

(x-5)^2  = 81

Now  x-5 = +- 9

          x = 14   or -4
