For the first  one

1:  A square and an equilateral triangle have equal perimeters. The area of the triangle is 2 sqrt 3 square inches. What is the number of inches in the length of the diagonal of the square?

Area  of triangle  is given by

2sqrt (3)  =  (1/2) side^2  * sin (60)

2 sqrt (3)  =  (1/2)side^2  * sqrt (3) / 2       simplify

2  = side^2 / 4

8  = side^2

√8  = side

So....the perimeter of the triangle   = 3√8  in

So.......the  side of the square  =  1/4  of this   =  (3/4)√8  in

And the diagonal  is √2  of this  =  √2 *  (3/4) √8  =   (3/4) * √16  in  =

(3/4)* 4   =    3 in

True: But w/o seeing the graph how would you know that at 3 months it's at its maximum population?

Wouldn't you just sub 3 for for t in your given function? Try it:

P(3) =4*3 + (100*3 / 3^2+400) + 500

P(3) = 12 +  (300 / 409) + 500

P(3) = 12 +  0.733496...  + 500

P(3) = 512.733486......

She is German, and in Germany they use "," instead of "." for decimal point that we use in the English-speaking countries. So, in Germany, and some other countries, 2,625 means 2.625 in other countries.

I see that. But how do you do it algebraically? 

1.   10  -80    640    -5120

a_n  = 10 (-8)^n-1

2.  (1/2)(4/3) ^n-1

a₁  = (1/2),  a_n   = (4/3)a_n-1

1.  The first term is 7.....only one answer has a first term  = 7

The difference  in the successive term  to the previous term  is -2

And the first term is 8

So we have

a₁  = 8 , a_n  = a_n-1 - 2     ⇒  first answer

a_n   =  -3  + 4(n - 1) ⇒  first answer

Note that     x^2 - 3x - 4    must be >  0

Set  this to 0

x^2  -3x - 4  = 0

(x - 4) ( x + 1)  = 0

Setting each factor to  0   and solving for x gives us

x = -1    and x  = 4

We have three  possible intervals

(-inf , -1)  U (-1, 4)   U (4, inf)

Testing x  = 0   in the middle interval makes the polynomial negative....so....this interval does not work

The domain is the other two intervals ⇒    (-inf, -1)  U  ( 4, inf )

What is the sum of all digits from 1 to 1,000. Just to make it very clear, the question is about the sum of each individual number.
