That is what calcuser posted    (7 + 6 sqrt2)/(1+12 sqrt2) = .86

well, it says that you have to round your answer to the nearest hundredth...

Add all the vertical and horizontal lines in pattern 1 first. (its 7)

The diagonal lines are sqrt(2) cm long use pythagoream theorem.  There are 6 of them

so pattern 1 is

do the same thing for pattern 2.

pattern 2 is 12 * sqrt(2) + 1

the ratio is \(\frac{6*\sqrt{2}+7}{12*\sqrt{2}+1}\)

now use calc

law of cosines:

c^2 = a^2 + b^2 - (2ab)C

where a b c are sides and C is angle

Use the Law of Cosines

c^2  = 11^2 + 8^2  - 2(11)(8)cos (37°)

c^2  =  121 + 64  -  176cos(37°)

c^2  ≈  44.44

The square root of 44.44 will give you your answer, CD
