What is a clocking?

First you could split them into 2 groups 

Less than a half   AND   bigger than a half

Just say the fraction was $$\frac{6}{11}$$     what is half of 11?   it is $$5\frac{1}{2}$$      6 is bigger than  $$5\frac{1}{2}$$    SO    $$\frac{6}{11}$$ is MORE than a half.

Your turn, you split you 5 fractions into the 2 piles and then we can look at what to do next :)

Perhaps you can explain what you mean a little better :/

$$\\y^2 +yt-12t^2\\\\
=y^2+4yt-3yt-12t^2\\\\
=y(y+4t)-3t(y+4t)\\\\
=(y-3t)(y+4t)$$

For starters you have too many equal signs.  I'll get rid of the excess ones.

1:4 =5:a

1/4=5/a

1/4=5/20       At this point you have the answer, a=20

Lets look at another way to do this :)

$$\\\frac{1}{4}=\frac{5}{a}\\\\
$Multiply both sides by $\frac{a}{1}\;\;$this is to get a off the bottom$\\\\
\frac{1}{4}\times \frac{a}{1} =\frac{5}{a}\times \frac{a}{1}\\\\
$simplify$\\\\
\frac{a}{4} =5\\\\
$Multiply both sides by 4 to get a by itself$\\\\
\frac{a}{4}\times 4 =5\times 4\\\\
$Simplify$\\\\
a=20$$

For starters, you can divide both the bottom and the top by 5

Do you mean

1)     $$log_{10}30$$

$${log}_{10}\left({\mathtt{30}}\right) = {\mathtt{1.477\: \!121\: \!254\: \!719\: \!662\: \!4}}$$

I really do not understand your question.
