There's a well known right-angled triangle with sides of 5, 12 and 13.  If sin(B) = 12/13 then tan(B) must be 12/5.

I have been on the site for much of today but I have not even attempted to answer every question.  I have however looked at your answers and given points when appropriate.  Even this may soon become too much and I do not think that all the points really get added to your totals anyway.  But for now this is what I am going to try and do.  The upside is that there should always be some unanswered questions around if you want to answer some.  I already try to leave some simpler questions around for our "rat pack" to answer anyway.

un square - that is a new way of explaining it - but I know exactly what you mean  

The opposite of squaring a number is to take the square root of it.  So

$$7^2=49 \qquad \sqrt{49}=7$$

So if you want the square root of 121 and you cannot do it in your head than you can use the calc on the home page.

Press the  $$\sqrt x$$    button and the write 121 =

that should give you the answer that you want.    

You have to expand the bracket, take it all to one side and then solve it as a quadratic.

(1)   If you want to write the square root of 16 you must put the 16 in parentheses (curly brackets)

\sqrt{16}

otherwise, only the 1 will be under the square root sign.

Say you want to write the 4th root of 16, this is how it is done.

\sqrt[4]{16}

$$\sqrt[4]{16}$$

What is $$\sqrt[4]{16}$$           Hint: It means   $$x*x*x*x = 16$$       Can you find x?
