plug in 1/18 instead of 3/20
Triangle UTR is an equilateral triangle so all of its angles are equal to 60 and all of its sides are equal. TR =11 because triangle TRS is an isosceles triangle.
Therefore, x - 7 = 11
x = 18
180 - 60 = 120 so angle TRS = 120
180 - 120 = 60
60/2 = 30
Therefore, 5y = 30
y = 6

Rational root theorem: All rational roots are factors of 72. Try plugging in simple numbers like 1 or 2 to get started.
\((x)(x+1)(x+3)(x+4)(x+6) = 0\)
The solutions are 0, -1, -3, -4, -6.
the point x = k y = k+1 must satisfy the equation
sub in for x and y
k+1 = 4(k) - 14
15 = 3k
k = 5
i) y = 1/3 x^2 -2x + 8
= 1/3 (x^2 - 6x) + 8
=1/3 ( x - 3)2 + 8 - 3
= 1/3 (x-3)2 + 5
ii) Min will occur at vertex 3,5 5 m
iii) put in 8 for 'y' and calculate 'x' into the equation in i) or the origianl equation given in the Q
x = original # of people
1200 /x = amount each person paid
x - 5 new number of people
1200 / ( x-5) = new amount =
1200 / (x-5) = 1200/x + 8 solve for 'x'
Distance fron wheel travels = 100 rev * ( pi * 2 * 2.5 ft) = 500 pi ft
circumference of back wheel = pi * 2 * 1/3 ( 2 * 1/3 ft = diameter of 8 inches)
500 pi ft / (pi* 2 * 1/3 ) = 500 /(2/3) = 1500/2 = 750 revs of back wheel
p = penny bank amount
1000 - p = f & d bank amount
p ( 1 + .03)2 + (1000-p) ( 1 + .05)2 = 1090.02 can you solve this for p ?
a + b = 6
ab = 8
1/a + 1/b = 1/a * ab / ab + 1/b * ab/ab
= b/ab + a/ab
= (b+ a )/ ab = 6 / 8 = 3/4
I agree this is very unclearly written....but I agree with BB...
here is my interpretation:
the entire figure below is 1/2 square centimeters ( 1/2 cm2)
the shaded area is 1/2 centimeters square ....and is obviously 1/2 of the 1/2 cm2 ~ EP
We are finding the number of arrangements of the number "122333".
This is equal to \(\frac{6!}{2! \cdot 3!} = \boxed{60}\)
Let her five friends be called A, B, C, D, and E.
There are 5 choose 2 = 10 ways to choose 2 people out of the 5.

Consider this
y=x^2 vertex is (0,0)
now consider y=(x-3)^2 where is the the new vertex.

Think of it like this:
(1*7 + 1)/7 8
(2*7 + 2)/7 16
(3*7 + 3)/7 24
(4*7 + 4)/7 32
(5*7 + 5)/7 40
(6*7 + 6)/7 48

Rewrite the inequality as
x^2 - 4x + y^2 - 6y ≤ 13
x^2 - 4x + 4 + y^2 - 6y + 9 = 13 + 4 + 9
(x-2)^2 + (y - 3)^2 ≤ 26
This is the area of a circle centred on x = 2, y = 3, with a radius of r = √26.
I'll leave you to find the area of a circle with radius r = √26.
I agree with Cal.
They can certainly be interpreted as different but I would want the difference to be made more clear than this!
I think what they mean is:
the first one means cut a 1 cm square in half. (It will be a rectangle with sides 0.5cm and 1cm)
The second one probably refers to a square with a side length of 0.5cm

Hmm aren't they the same thing? So 1? Correct me if I am wrong.
