So we have this

16 ≥ x^2 + y^2 ≤ 25

Taking this in pieces, we have

x^2 + y^2 ≤ 16   and   x^2 + y^2 ≤ 25

People always do it though, and it's always the same dumb question. I guess they're so easily entertained that they can ask a question that they know the answer to and think its funny.

Maybe you forgot to clear it before you put the problem in.

Or maybe you put it in wrong.

Or the calculator could be messing up because it's in a different mode. (Such as radian and degree) If you leave them in radian mode (I think) then you can get crazy answers. It's one of the two, I'm fairly sure you're supposed to leave them in degree mode though.

Cookies on your computer aren't a bad thing, Anonymous......as long as you remember to have a glass of milk on-hand, too.....!!!!

If calculator can not answer simple equation how can it be trusted to assist in a more complicated equation

This is only true for selected values of x

cos^3x = cosx

cos^3x - cosx = 0

cosx(cos^2x - 1)  = 0

cosx(cosx - 1)(cosx + 1) = 0

So, either cosx = 0    and this is true at x = pi/2 ± (pi/2)n  for some integer n

Or

cosx - 1 = 0

cos x = 1    and this is true at x = 0 ± (2pi)n  for some integer n

Or

cosx + 1 = 0

cosx = -1   and this is true at x = pi ± (2pi)n   for some integer n

They're just asking to be stupid. People do it all the time to waste time and take away from people who actually need help.

9+10= 19 because what is 10+10= it is 20 so take one out so it is like this 9+10=19

If you know the answer then why are you using a calculator?

the sum of two consecutive numbers is 57. what are the numbers

a + ( a+1 ) = 57

2a + 1 = 57

2a = 57 - 1

2a = 56

a = 56 / 2

a = 28

28 + 29 = 57

.23(repeated) = 23/99  ..  and that's in lowest terms....
