I think I have is a simpler method, Tenacious, although I like your use of FOIL. I start with order of operations. I remember the order using PEMDAS (Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction.)

Let's begin evaluating your problem:

(32 + 13) * (36 - 5)

First we do evrything in the parenthesis: 32 + 13 = 45 and 36 - 5 = 31. So now we have:

(45) * (31)

Multiplying these two numbers with a calculator, we get:

$${\mathtt{45}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{\mathtt{31}} = {\mathtt{1\,395}}$$

(32+13)x(36-5)=

Would normally be written as (32+13)(36-5) as when brackets are back to back, as I have written it, means that the contents should be multiplied.

I will use the * symbol as a multiplication symbol to save any confusion with the letter x.

(32+13)(36-5)=

32*36+32*-5+13*36+13*-5=

1152-160+468-65=1395

I use the FOIL method. First from each bracket, Outside from each bracket, Inside from each bracket, Last from each bracket. It ensures that each term from one bracket is multiplied by each term from the other bracket. The order is not important but ensuring all are completed is.

Please bare in mind I am just a newbie so there may be more elegant solutions to this and I may be wrong, though I believe I have it correct.

I think this is asking you use the distributive property.

If you don't know the distributive propery, it's: a(b + c) = ab + ac.

In this equation, P = 2x + 2y, we can use the disributive property backwards to turn it into P = 2(x + y)

43x2=86

Wouldn't it have been just as easy to type this into your own calculator or the online calculator provided on the home page to get the answer yourself?

arctan 1.45=a              arctan is the same as inverse tan.

I will enter it as           atan(1.45)

Most question I would ask have already been asked on here lots of times. I just reed the questions and answers and learn how to do it that way. I learn the quadratic formula already too but Im not very good at using it yet.

Actually Tetration that is a good idea but it would take a lot of effort and time to get it well organised.

Last year NinjaDevo organised the "Reference Material" and "Great answers to Learn From"  He did a great job, I continue to be very grateful to him.

If you ever want to tackle the puzzles that would be great but I am not tryingto pressure you.

What Tetration said is completely correct.  YOU MUST USE BRACKETS.

Otherwise we do not know what your intended answer is!!

Tetration and I have interpreted your question differently.  To tell you the truth either of us interpreted it as it tecnically should have been interpreted.

Technically this is correct.

z^6x^3/z^4x^5

$$\\z^6\times \dfrac{x^3}{z^4}\times x^5\\\\\\
=\dfrac{z^6*x^3*x^5}{z^4}\\\\\\
=\dfrac{z^2*x^8}{1}\\\\\\
=z^2*x^8\\\\
=z^2x^8$$

Yeah, the more experienced math helper and friend Melody, and me, interpreted the question differently. 

At any rate, please include paranthesis and/or multiplication symbols to make the question unambiguous. :)

$$z^{216x^{3}-1024x^{5}} = z^{x^{3}(216-1024x^{2})}= z^{8x^{3}(27-128x^{2})}$$
