Now, since the power (exponent) is negative, that means that this is a very little number.
The 6 means that you have have to jump the decimal point over 6 digits to get it to where it belongs. Actually draw the jumps in with your pencil
So, you have to move the decimal point over 6 places in the direction that will make 4.46 smaller.
If there are no digits to jump over just add in zeros.
Let's see if you can't do it now.

First I want you to learn to use the 'sup' button that is located above the smilies.
If you want to enter n^2 you do it like this
n now press the 'sup' button. The curser will be placed where you need to enter the 2. Now just move the curser to the end and keep going.

so your question is

n ²-8n-49 = -5
Whenever there is a squared term, you have to take it all over to the same side. (with 0 on the other side) You need to add 5 to both sides.

n ²-8n-44 = 0

Now, I don't think that this factors out nicely so it is probably best to use the quadratic formula.

I think that you are being asked what is the average number of meals per cusomers.

now three people get these marks in a test 4, 7, and 2
Then the average mark is the total of all the marks divided by how many marks there were. That is (4+7+2)/3

Now in your question you have already got the total number of meals, that was already added for you.
And you have got the number of customers.
So can you work out the average number of meals per cusomer by yourself now?

You'll have to extend the domain of t a bit...
