The 8 is in the "ten-thousands" place.  The 6 is in the "thousands" place; the 9 in the "hundreds" place; the 7 in the "tens" place and the 4 in the "units" place.

I have found the natural log of 200,000 (12.20607264553). How do I work backwards from the natural log to get 200,000?

Like I said.  I do not know all the things this calc can do.

The user guide is extremely limited so it is very difficult to discover or rediscover things.

I do not think that this is the be all and end all of calcs but it does have some nice features.

I do not have a Hewlett packard calculator.  Nor do I have any money in my pocket to buy one.   The web2.0 calc is available for free so at least i can afford it.  That is a good start.

There are some examples in the help page but it is far from comprehensive.

This calculator has some truely amazing features but i have had to see other people (perhaps people with better imaginations)  demonstrate them before I even know they exist.  

I suppose brilliant programmers do not particularly enjoy producing user documentation.     

There are some help instructions but this do a lot of things that are not listed. 7UP told me that Mr. Massow probably removed them because so many use this calculator now it bogs down the servers.

LCM 50 and 70

Let us see:

50=2 x 5 x 5

70=2 x5 x 7

So we take 2 x 5 x 5 x 7=350

Because we  have a pair of 2's, we take only one

And because 50 has a pair of 5's we take only one

And so we are left with 2 x 5 x 5 x7=350 I think!!!!!!!. It was a century ago when I did this!

I think you are both correct.  I am surprised that if you input two numbers in scientific notation which are to be multiplied, the output after you hit the = sign is not in scientific notation-- as I just learned, you must hit the = sign a second time to see scientific notation.   I can live with that, but I haven't seen it that way on the several scientific calculators I've used.  I don't understand why it works that way, but it's ok now that I understand it. BTW, are there written instructions or a user's guide of some kind for looking up things like this?

50 as a product of its prime factors is    5*5*2

70 as a product of its prime factors is 5*7*2

For the lowest common multiple  you must include all the prime factors but if they are in both products then you only need to include it once.

SO lowest common multiple is 5*5*2*7 = 350

6x-24-7x=-20x-15

-24-x=-20x-15

19x=9

x=9/19
