Reinout seemed to think that the Latex could probably be delivered via a [tex][/tex] box. Do you think that this is how it would be ILS? Also, do you know if mathjax is freely available? I am unlikely to sell the idea to Andre Massow if there is a cost involved.

Mathjax (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MathJax) is open source software that uses the Apache license:

The Apache License (/əˈpætʃi/) is a free software license written by the Apache Software Foundation (ASF). The Apache License requires preservation of the copyright notice and disclaimer. Like other free software licenses, the license allows the user of the software the freedom to use the software for any purpose, to distribute it, to modify it, and to distribute modified versions of the software, under the terms of the license, without concern for royalties.

So in other words, yes, it is free.

If it is installed in the web site, we could type latex with [tex][/tex] tags around it. Possibly with alternative tags like dollars.

Hm, i think you should try to use your equation as below:
(3.5% of 3500 = 3500*0.035). So, b=0.035:

When a is the starting amount, b=0.035 and x is the time period.

Hello guys, I'm glad you liked the specific use of Latex.
From what I can see, in this forum the potential for use BBcode tags are few. So should be limited to tags such as [ img], [ code] etc. However it is possible to quote images of equations in the form of LaTex, using this online tool: http://www.codecogs.com/latex/eqneditor.php .
This tool therefore can produce the equation as image with this page: http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex? [LaTex HERE]
For example: The equation 2x=5=>x=5/2 as LaTex, is:
2x=5\Rightarrow x=\frac{5}{2}
...so we can export a picture with the equation, using the equation as a parameter to the page http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex?2x=5\Rightarrow x=\frac{5}{2}
BUT, now there is a problem: LaTex form is not BBcode-tags-friendly so if you try to put img tag you get:

So? How can we solve this problem? The solution is simple:
You have just to encode the equation's LaTex with Base64. Easy to do with this tool: http://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/dencoder/
So you keep the " http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex?" and you encode the " 2x=5\Rightarrow x=\frac{5}{2}" and the result:
http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex?2x%3D5%5CRightarrow%20x%3D%5Cfrac%7B5%7D%7B2%7D
It is now possible quote the image in the following format:
[img]http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex?2x%3D5%5CRightarrow%20x%3D%5Cfrac%7B5%7D%7B2%7D[/img]
And Finally: $0$

I hope the above clear up the way in which we can list images easily. If yes,(challenge:) try to post this Quadratic equation as image with Blue numbers: x=(-b+sqrt(b^2-4ac))/2a

The above method can be automated in this forum platform adding some extra plugins. Anyway, if you need some other help that is relevant to the technical part I can help you, yes I'm a programmer, but I am interested in maths!

Perhaps you don't? The 4 is a acknowledgement of a decimal placings true position. Maybe you should check the question. But.... 5.85 x 10^4 is 58500.0, thus is you find what is the true base^ ⁿ you can convert it into log. In my uninformed opinion. Stu

The energy supplied by boiling water to go from 100degC to 40degC is masshot*spht*(100-40)

Equating these two and assuming the specific heat is constant over the range of temperatures being considered and that the density is also constant at 1000kg/m ³, and knowing that 1000L is 1m ³ (so masslukewarm = 1m ³*1000kg/m ³ = 1000kg), then

masshot*spht*60=masslukewarm*spht*15

masshot = masslukewarm*15/60

masshot = 1000kg*15/60

masshot = 250kg

-124+38 this is going to get closer to the surface of the water so it will become LESS NEGATIVE. it will be -(124-38) = - 86

-86 - 65 is going to get a lot deeper so it must be like -(86+65) = -151

If you don't understand this I (or someone else) will try to explain it differently.

If you use acrnyms in your answers could you please make a point of explaining what the letters stand for.
People do have to become familiar with many acronyms but they may not be familiar yet. Sometimes an explanation of what the words mean is also a good idea.

I have bumped up the LaTex thread so if anyone has anything to say please add it to the thread. Once I am sure of what to ask for I will send another email to Andre regarding Latex. I have already sent 1 backup email to the original reply and I am concerned that if I send too many they will not be considered or even read. Latex is important to us so I will send the email. I just have to make sure it is right first.

If anyone, would like to learn LaTex, a show of interest is all it takes and we will be very happy to help you learn.
Even without the LaTex editor we use Latex regularly, almost every day I import snips from ouput that I have created with Latex.

You do need to tell people what the letter mean.

GFC stand for Greatest Common Factor.

The top and the bottom of your fraction have NO common factors (except 1) so the fraction cannot be simplified.
