When using direct the page http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex?, the page have to render the image everytime someone open this thread. This resulting the need of processing resources. From the other side, if you downloaded the image and then you upload it on http://imgur.com/ everything is okay. So the process is now preferred:

Not quite sure how I got 5.9, but when I actually tried, I got 10.5 cm, 3 times in a row. I'll notify my instructor, although, I'm in DAEP, which isn't for the 'smart' ones, so I doubt college physics is a popular class here. lol.

so you have the equation

Y = 3500 * 0.035^x

Now just plug the numbers in

Nice, but your equation for Y is wrong. I'll give you an example:

y=3500*0.035^20
So, y<a ? Remember that already exist 3500 deers in the year 2000. This is why you should use the equation:

Hey there!

So in this case, you would need to use the tangent function to find out the height needed to begin the descent.

Assuming that the plane is 30,380ft from the runway horizontally, we would insert that for the adjacent value. We need to find the opposite value in this case to find the height of the aircraft.
Recalling that the tangent of an angle equals the opposite side over the adjacent side, our equation would be as follows: tan 3 = (x/30380), where the angle is equal to 3, the opposite value we don't know so we put as "x", and the horizontal adjacent side is the distance, 30,380ft.
Using algebra to get x by itself, we would write the equation like this: 30380(tan 3) = x.
Your answer should be approximately 1589.96ft.

Have payments been made? how much were the payments?

I already answered almost all of this one and then my computer threw a tantrum and I lost it.
sometimes they are worse than 2 year olds!
Anyway,
I am not familiar with some of these term, I had to look them up or guess them.
ARM stands for adjustable rate mortgage
I think that 5/3 ARM means the first 5 years are fixed and then the ratecan be adjusted every 3 years after that.
I am guessing that 4/13 means that the payments are made every 4 weeks which is 13 times a year.
The payments will stay the same unless the interest rate changes and that does not appeared to have happened.
so
this appears to be a present value of an ordinary annuity question.
A = R * a angle n at i

angle n at i = [ 1- ( 1 + i ) ^-n ] / i
A = $154200
n = 30*13 = 390
i = 0.0645 / 13
R = that is what we have to find.
so
angle n at i = (1-(1+0.0645/13)^-390)/(0.0645/13) = $172.3020165

(1-(1+0.0645/13)^-390)/(0.0645/13)

A = R * a angle n at i
154200 = R * 172.3020165

R = 154200 / 172.3020165

154200/172.3020165

So the 4 weekly payments will be $894.94

This is not quite the same as any of the given answers. Oh well. Too bad! I'm happy anyway. It is a lovely day today.

Are you trying to find the roots for y= x ² -7x - 40 ?

If you want the exact roots you will need to use the quadratic formula (or completing the square method)
There are no rational numbers that mult to -40 and add to -7

However, I can give you approximations in 2 different ways using graphs.
