When using direct the page http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex?, the page have to render the image everytime someone open this thread. This resulting the need of processing resources. From the other side, if you downloaded the image and then you upload it on http://imgur.com/ everything is okay. So the process is now preferred:

Not quite sure how I got 5.9, but when I actually tried, I got 10.5 cm, 3 times in a row. I'll notify my instructor, although, I'm in DAEP, which isn't for the 'smart' ones, so I doubt college physics is a popular class here. lol.

Thanks Dms,

Let the year 2000 be year 0 x=0
and the year 2020 be year 20 x=20

As Dms said, a=3500, and b=0.035

so you have the equation

Y = 3500 * 0.035^x

Now just plug the numbers in

Nice, but your equation for Y is wrong. I'll give you an example:

y=3500*0.035^20
So, y<a ? Remember that already exist 3500 deers in the year 2000. This is why you should use the equation:

Definitely not more than 10m
Maybe less than 10m. Maybe the b***s are next to each other, maybe you walked 5m away and then came 5m back again.?

What do you think?

Good evening/morning all,
Thank you I like Serena. I will put this into an email and send it to Andre Massow over the weekend. It is already weekend for me.

There were a LOT of questions today. Forfunately a number of people also provided excellent answers. These peple included Alan, Dms, Rom, guest and Bradley. Thank you.
P6fitz joined today and gave me a very nice thank you for my answer. Welcome to web2.0calc forum. We hope you like it here. And, thank you, we aways appreciate good manners.

There is just one unanswered question on t tests. I have left the address on the usual marker. ('All questions answered except' thread)

That's it, enjoy your Friday/Saturday.
Melody.

Big I:
Thee individuals with scores 4, 6, 8 the estimated population variance is?

the mean value is (4+6+8)/3 = 6

the sum of squared differences is (4-6) ²+(6-6) ²+(8-6) ² = 8

the estimated population variance is given by sum of squared differences divided by n-1 where n is the number of terms (3 here) if this is just a sample from the population. If these three numbers constitute the whole population then replace n-1 by n.

Demers:
Hi, how do you calculate the present value of the compound interest loan with the following:

$22,000 after 7 years at 3% if the interest is compounded in the following ways. I will assume that no payments have been made

1. Annually i=0.03 n=7
S = P(1+i)ⁿ
22000 = P (1.03)⁷
22000/ (1.03)⁷ = P

22000/(1.03^7)=
P = $17888.01
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Quarterly i= 0.03/4 = 0.0075, n=7*4 = 28
S = P(1+i) ⁿ
22000=P(1.0075^28)
22000/(1.0075^28)=P

22000/(1.0075^28)
P=$17846.83

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hey there!

So in this case, you would need to use the tangent function to find out the height needed to begin the descent.

Assuming that the plane is 30,380ft from the runway horizontally, we would insert that for the adjacent value. We need to find the opposite value in this case to find the height of the aircraft.
Recalling that the tangent of an angle equals the opposite side over the adjacent side, our equation would be as follows: tan 3 = (x/30380), where the angle is equal to 3, the opposite value we don't know so we put as "x", and the horizontal adjacent side is the distance, 30,380ft.
Using algebra to get x by itself, we would write the equation like this: 30380(tan 3) = x.
Your answer should be approximately 1589.96ft.

Hope that helps!

Present value of an ordinary annuity.JPG

I think that I have only just read your question properly.
do you mean that after 7 years of payment the loan has come down to $22000 ?
Have payments been made? how much were the payments?
I think this question might be much more basic than I thought. Have NO payments been made? Please get back to me on this.

Chevy and Judith are purchasing a townhouse and finance $154,200 with a 30-year 5/3 ARM at 6.45% with a 4/13 cap structure. What will their payments be at the beginning of the sixth year assuming they are charged the maximum interest rate for that year?
$907.11
$1,356.97
$969.58
$1,314.26

hi guest,

I already answered almost all of this one and then my computer threw a tantrum and I lost it.
sometimes they are worse than 2 year olds!
Anyway,
I am not familiar with some of these term, I had to look them up or guess them.
ARM stands for adjustable rate mortgage
I think that 5/3 ARM means the first 5 years are fixed and then the ratecan be adjusted every 3 years after that.
I am guessing that 4/13 means that the payments are made every 4 weeks which is 13 times a year.
The payments will stay the same unless the interest rate changes and that does not appeared to have happened.
so
this appears to be a present value of an ordinary annuity question.
A = R * a angle n at i
where
angle n at i = [ 1- ( 1 + i ) ^-n ] / i
A = $154200
n = 30*13 = 390
i = 0.0645 / 13
R = that is what we have to find.
so
angle n at i = (1-(1+0.0645/13)^-390)/(0.0645/13) = $172.3020165

(1-(1+0.0645/13)^-390)/(0.0645/13)

A = R * a angle n at i
154200 = R * 172.3020165

R = 154200 / 172.3020165

154200/172.3020165

So the 4 weekly payments will be $894.94

This is not quite the same as any of the given answers. Oh well. Too bad! I'm happy anyway. It is a lovely day today.

what two numbers multiplied equal -40, then with the same two numbers added equal -7

Hi sassy73

Are you trying to find the roots for y= x ² -7x - 40 ?

If you want the exact roots you will need to use the quadratic formula (or completing the square method)
There are no rational numbers that mult to -40 and add to -7

However, I can give you approximations in 2 different ways using graphs.
Try and make sense of this
