How can I find the height of a scalene triangle given its side angles, 6, 8, and 10?

You don't have a scalene triangle, you have a right triangle. If its hypoteneuse (the side with the measure of 10) isn't the base, then it's height is either 6 or 8, depending on the orientation of the triangle.

If the hypoteneuse is the base, it's a little more difficult. Let us orient the triangle so that the hypoteneuse is the base and the side with the length of 8 is on the "left" side of the triangle. Using the law of sines, we can find the sine of the angle that lies between the side with length 8 and the hypoteneuse. We can just label this angle as "A."

sin 90 / 10 = sin A / 6    which gives us

sin A = 6 /10= .6

Now, draw a perpendicular from the base to the apex ....this is the height (h)

And using the law of sines again (and realizing that the perpendicular forms a right angle), we have

h / sin A = 8 / sin 90

h / .6 = 8

h = 8(.6)  = 4.8

That one was a little tougher !!!

Do you mean you have a right angle and one other angle?  Then you have 2 angles so you can find the third one.

Remember, the angle sum of a triangle is 180 degrees.

Well, you can take away the tips first.

73-46 = $27

27 dollars for 6 hours = 27/6 dollars for 1 hour = $4.50 per hour

where r is the radius of the cylinder and h is the height

BTW.....If you click on the "Formulary" tab at the top of the page, you will find a "cylinder" app that will calculate the volume for you !!!

I assume you want the sum of the vertex angles of a regular pentagon.

The measure of one of the vertex angles is given by (n-2)*(180)/n where n is the number of sides of the pentagon.

So we have (5-2)*(180)/5 = 3(36) = 108º

And since we have 5 of these, then 5(108º) = 540º

And that's it !!!

whenever numbers look horrible it is agood idea to see what you would do if the numbers were easier.   

so for this one you could ask yourself.  If I earn $10 for 2 hours work how much do I get per hour?

$5 because 10 divided by 2 = 5     $5 first hour +$5 second hour = $10  That works.

I took the dollars and divided by the hours. Mmmm

38.45 divided by 4.5 must give the right answer.

Okay, the first thing I notice is that the numbers are going down by 3 each time.

So there must be a -3*x in there somewhere.

-3*1=-3  if i subtract another 3 then the answer will be -6

-3*2=-6     -6-3=-9

-3*3=-9     -9-3=-12

-3*4=-12   -12-3=-15

I do believe I have it

y = -3x-3

It is important that you think about the logic that I have used. 

if f(4) then f(x)=16x-19=24

This does not make sense to me.

f(4) = 16*4-19 = 45

Some of the others are much better at 'forensic maths' than me.  Maybe one of them will have more luck with interpreting your question.
