The scale factor  of   B : A   = 2 : 1     = 2

Therefore...the area of the cross-section of "B'  is  Cross-Section of A * scale factor^2 =

18 * 2^2  =  18 * 4  = 72

Therefore....the volume of  B  =  cross-section area  of B  * height of B  =   72 * 10   =  720 cm^3

h= height of flag pole

Tan 30 = opp/adj = h/75

.57735 = h/75

h = 43.3 ft     ~~ 43 ft

Both triangles  PNQ and LPQ  have the same altitude  ( PQ)

So....triangles under the same altitude are to each other as their bases...and since  the area of LPQ is twice that of PNQ...its base (PL)  must be twice as  long as the base of PNQ  =  (NP)

Therefore....PL  = 2NP

And since PQ is parallel to LM ⇒    NL : NP  =  LM /PQ =   [ NP + PL ] / NP  = [NP + 2NP] / NP  = 3NP / NP  = 3

Therfore...LM : PQ  = 3 : 1

So...the scale factor  of triangle NLM  to triangle NPQ  is 3 : 1  = 3

And the area of triangle   NLM  = Area of triangle NPQ * scale factor^2  = 8 * 3^2  = 8 * 9  = 72 units^2

So....  Area of LQM  =    [ area of NLM  - combined areas of (PNQ + LPQ)  ]

72  - [ 8 + 16 ]  =

72 - 24  =

48 units^2

First find the Radius of smaller cylinder:

pi r^2 = area

r = sqrt( area/pi)

r = sqrt(18/pi) = 2.39365 cm

Now calculate the radius of the larger cylinder (using ratios of similarity)

10/5 (r) = 4.787 cm

Volume = area x height

               pi (4.787^2)(10) = 720 cm^3

1.)  When the polynomial p (x) is divided by (x + 3),  The quotient is x^2-1.  What is p(x)? And how do you find p(x)?

2.)  suppose p(x) Is the product of a polynomial of degree 4  and a cubic polynomial. How many complex zeros does p(x)  have? Explain

p (x) has a maximum of 7 zeros

Is the equation of this line

y=1/4x?

CPhill I typed it right of my homework word for word

We are given that PQR  is an isosceles triangle in which PQ = PR .

Since the base angles of an isosceles triangle are congruent,

∠PQR  =  ∠PRQ

And we are given that

∠MRQ  =  ∠NQR

And we know that  QR  =  QR

Now if we split the triangles in the picture up we can see it more clearly...

By the ASA congruency theorem, we can say that △QNR is congruent to △RMQ.

Did i graph this right?

The y intercept  is  at  -2  = (0, - 2)

The slope of the line from this point moving to the right   is  [ change in y / change in x ]  = [2 units / 4 units] =  2/4  = 1/2

So....the equation is   y = mx + b   where m is the slope and  b  is the y intercept

So..we have

y = (1/2)x  - 2

Mostly pretty close.....

The slope of the line is - 1/2

"D"      When the Fed Res raises interest rates, the cost of borrowing goes up for all loan types....

Thanks, hectictar  !!

Another approach is  to note that a  segment drawn parallel to the base of a triangle, divides the sides in equal proportions

Therefore  for (a)

BC /AB  = ED /AE

5 /20  = ED / 26

1/4  = ED / 26      multiply both sides by 26

26 (1/4)  = ED  = 26/4  = 13/2  = 6.5

(b)  Also...we have that...since triangle ABE is similar to triangle ACD...then

BE / AB  =  CD /AC

BE / 20  = 18/ 25     multiply both sides by 20

BE = (18/25) * 20  =  14.4

Are you doing derivatives yet?

Derivative will tell you the slope of the curve at the given point

First one derivative = 4x + 4           put x = 4   in there to get    slope =20

Second one

    .25 (x^2-4x+4) -4

    .25x^2 -x -3              ---------------->  derivative : .5x -1     at x= 4    .5(4)-1 = 1 = slope

how do i Graph y=–7/3x+2 ?

y = (-7/3) + 2

The y intercept  is at  2   ⇒   (0 , 2)

The slope of the line  is  -7 / 3

Go down 7 units from (0, 2)   =  (0, 2 - 7)  =  (0, -5)

Go to the right by  3  units from this point  =   [ 0 + 3, -5)  =  (3, -5)

Plot the two coordinates in red   and draw a line through them....this is the graph

It should look like this   : https://www.desmos.com/calculator/ejl49oydio

∠ABE  ≅  ∠ACD   because they are corresponding angles.

∠AEB  ≅  ∠ADC   because they are corresponding angles.

So by AA similarity,  △ABE  ~  △ACD .

Let's let the scale factor from  △ACD  to  △ABE  be  s .

Each side of △ABE is equal to  s  times the corresponding side of △ACD.

In other words....to get from △ACD  to  △ABE, multiply each side of △ACD  by  s .

So we know that....

AB  =  AC * s

                            And...   AB  =  20 cm     ...and...     AC  =  20 cm  +  5 cm  =  25 cm

20  =  25  *  s

                            Divide both sides of the equation by  25 .

20/25  =  s

0.8  =  s

The scale factor is  0.8 , so each side of △ABE is  0.8  times the corresponding side of △ACD.

That means....

BE  =  0.8 * CD

BE  =  0.8 * 18  cm

BE  =  14.4  cm

Depends on what your "rule of housing' percentage IS.....    28%  ?    What?

Im confused

Mmmm.....I''m not sure  what "RHS" means,  either...but...here's a proof

BD  = CA   [ diameters of a circle are equal ]

Central Angle BOA  = Central Angle COD  [ vertcal  angles are equal ]

Chord BA  =  Chord CD  [ equal central angles span  equal chords  ]

AD = AD    [ reflexive property ]

So  BD = CA, BA = CD  and AD =AD

So...by S-S-S   triangle ABD  is congruent to  triangle DCA

That is the equation for a straight line....
