6s + 3t = 79.50

3s + 2t = 41.

We can modify the equation by multiplying the second one by -2.

-6s - 4t = -82.

Solving for t: t = 2.5.

Solving for s:

Knowing t, we can solve the equation:

3s + 2(2.50) = 41. (I'm using this one because it's easier)

3s + 5 = 41

3s = 36

s = 12

t = 2.5

I think this is in LaTeX. I can understand the first two lines. But on the second and 4th paragraph it's all giberrish.

What about the third piece? And why is the second one also 4/5?

Let's make "x" the width.

Length = x-12.

Area of rectangle: Width * Length.

This means: x(x-12) = 85.

Simplifying that is: x^2 - 12x = 85.

Rearranging it: x^2 - 12x - 85 = 0.

Factor it: (x+5)(x+17)-85 = 0

We can set both factors to 0 and solve for x:

x = -5 which doesn't work

x = 17 which works.

And for the Length: x - 12 = 17 -12 = 5.

Soo, the equation is 6(x) + 3(12) = 4.20(x+12).

6x + 36 = 4.20x + 50.4. Subtracting 36, and 4.20x from both sides:

1.8x = 14.4. Dividing both sides by 1.8x:

x = 8lbs.

Which means 162/175 aren't. 162/175 = 0.9257. After multiplying, it results in 92.57%
