Look for LCM of 6, 8 and 3, which is 24, so

Eddie  2/6 = 8/24

Andy   2/8 = 6/24

Fred   1/3 =  8/24

Alternatively, note that 2/6 is the same as 1/3, and 2/8 is the same as 1/4, and 1/3 is greater than 1/4.

Well, if I've interpreted the question correctly, then:

Where does it say that they all have to be red ?

If you take six balls, you will either have three the same colour amongst them or three sets of two.

The seventh ball must then give you a set of three the same colour.

Ok.  Not too surprising, I often get things wrong!  However, it would be nice to know in what way I was wrong.  Did I misinterpret the question? Was my logic wrong?  Presumably, if you know it was wrong you know the right result. Do you also know the right logic?  More information would be useful to identify the source of my error.

P(two  are hearts)  =  C(3,2)(13/52)(12/51)(39/50) =  117/850

P(3 are hearts)  = (13/52)(12/51)(11/50)  = 11/850

So....the total probability  =  [ 117 + 11] / 850 =  128/850  = 64/425

This  known as the "pigeonhole principle"

By  taking  7 + 5 + 3  =  15  balls  you are guaranteed  to end up with 3 red balls......

So basically I accidentally rigged the odds against you and the question was missing one critical piece of information.

The quadrilateral is cyclic. Which means you can inscribe it in a circle.

Actually I'm too lazy to wait so basically the opposite angles of a cyclic quadrilateral are supplementary, so angle A plus angle C is equal to 180. And, A plus C is 6 of those "units," so the missing angles must be 3 of them. So, since C has 4 of them, that is the largest angle. Since we have split up the quadrilateral into 12 of those units, each is 30 degrees. Therefore, 30*4=120.
