This is a more general guide towards solving integration, first choose variables u and v such that u = f(x) and and dv = g(x)dx.  then the expression becomes int(u*dv)=?.  Hopefully this helps.

this is a very good question.  first you must find the fraction of the cost that person C paid (5/8 + 128/5 + x).  Then you would get 30.6 + x, which is the fractional sum of the cost of persons ab and c.  Ok, I'm confused...sorry.

Let the full price be x

A pays     $$\frac{5x}{8}$$      (there will be 3x/8 left to pay)

after you clear the denominator (with (x+2)(x-2)), you get 4x-8+x+2=5x-6 then you add to get everything that cancels, so therefore 0 must equal 0.
