Your question doesn't make sense because your expression only has numbers in it.  It has no letters so it cannot be a function.  There is nowhere to sub  x=anything in because there is no x!

I doubt  that is correct, Melody...there is no purpose in writing the first fraction on the right side of the equation over 1......besides, the poster claims that the answer on his sheet was the same as I got......

on the forum calc you use asin   

asin is the same as sin-1

1/12*100add the percent sign afterwards

now do it on the calc on the home page.

This is a question that crops up from time to time.

To me if I am asked for "the difference between A and B" I interprete that as an absolute value.

so |A-B|=|B-A|=big one - little one.

However, I think other mathematicians may disagree with me.

For examble, sound out four and four tenths (4.4)

That is 4 4/10 = 4 and 2/5

3-(-12) is equal to 3+12

and the answer is 15

I did this a little differently (the answer is the same although Chris's is not quite finished.)

The co in cosine stands for complement of sine.  Complementary angles add to 90 degrees.

So 

$$\boxed{sin\theta=cos(90-\theta)}\\\\$$

also, 140 degrees is in the 2nd quadrant.  Sine is positive in the 2nd quad.  so

$$\\sin140^0=sin(180-140)=sin40\\\\
sin40=cos50\\
so \\
sin140=cos50$$

Draw a right angled triangle and label on of the acute angles as 50 degrees.

The opposite side is p

The hypotenuse is 1

So using pythagoras' Theorum the adjacent side must be     $$\sqrt{1-p^2}$$

Let's suppose that we have

10^{log₁₀ 100}

Notice that log₁₀100    just evaluates to "2"

So we really have

10²  = 100       which was just the number that we were taking the log of in the exponent!!!

And since 10^10 was the number that we were taking the log of in the exponent, the answer just ends up being just..... 10^10

The distance between them is 289, but their difference is -289, because you said 324 before 613.

You could either switch the calculator to the function that allows fractions, or just type parenthesis around your fraction when you enter it into the calculator so PEMDAS won't mess with it. For example, 1 over 5 should be typed as (1/5)
