Every where I look, 8741805001637784992097461777389^7838464=Infinity. Now Infinity is a very large number. But it still should be larger then this. I get that it is a lot of numbers. Could someone tell me an educated guess on how many?

Infinity cannot be expressed as a number because whatever number you write down there is always a number that is bigger.
I don't know where you got your number from but calculators often throw up estimates without telling you that that is what they have done.

sqrt3 * root3 = sqrt(3*3) = sqrt9 = 3

2sqrt6 * 7sqrt12 = 2 * 7 * sqrt6 * sqrt12 = 14 * sqrt72
but sqrt72 = sqrt(36*2) = sqrt36 * sqrt2 = 6sqrt3
so
14*sqrt72 = 14 * 6 * sqrt3 = 84sqrt3

Does that help at all.

Chase:
-3x(2x^2-5x+4)=??

-3x(2x ²-5x+4)
will become
= -3x*2x ² -3x*-5x -3x*4
that is
= [-3x*2x ²] + [-3x*-5x] + [-3x*4]

I am assuming the main confusion is the minus signs. There are many different, yet correct, ways to think about the minus signs.
This is not quite the way I would ususally do it but I thought it might be easier to understand this way.
A +- together makes a minus, so the fact that i have added extra plus signs just doesn't matter.
After you simplify all the terms inside the square brackets then you can simply remove the brackets. They all have plus signs in front of them so it won't really change anything.
Can you finish it yourself? If not sure or you want me to check your answer post again (but show me what you have done)

This is an inverse sine or arcsine problem because it is the angle that you need to find.
If you are using degrees, check that you calulator is in degrees mode. There will probably be a tiny little D at the top of the screen.
now
inverse sign of (7/13) is written as, sin ^-1(7/13)
(Don't confuse this with a power of -1 they are completely different, the notation is dumb, but what can you do )

Now, if you look at the sin button on your calculator it will have a little sin ^-1 written above (in colour coding) . This means that you have to press an INV or a 2nd funct button at the top of the calc to use the notation
so it's

INV SIN (7/13) = (then you might need to press the degrees minutes and seconds button to get it to display as an angle)

-15x ²-5x+9+(-6x ²)-19x-16+(-15x ²)

Now I am going to take away the brackets because they are not doing anything.

= -15x ²-5x+9 +-6x ²-19x-16 +-15x ²

Now if two signs (+ or - ) are so close together that you can put a circle around them without anything else in the circle, then put circle them.
If they are both the same, ++ or -- replace them with a plus, If they are different +- or -+ replace them with a minus.
so you question becomes.

= -15x ²-5x+9 -6x ²-19x-16 -15x ²

Now collect the like terms, do you know how to do that? Remember the minus sign always belongs to the term behind it eg 6 -2x+3x = 6 + x

You can post you answer if you are not sure. Just include my last line of working so that it is easier fo me to follow

You haven't actually said what you want, do you just want to simplify it?

(λx ² - x + λ ² - 5) + (x ² + λ ²x - 4λ)

= λx ² - x + λ ² - 5)+ x ² + λ ²x - 4λ

There are no 'like terms' so all you can do is remove the brackets.

Suggestion : questions like this are easier to read if you use the sup (superscrip) button that is located above the smilies.

Now I have a question for you, how did you include the lambda signs in the post? Do you have a special keyboard?

I don't think I've seen it called 'ordinary' notation but I think you are asking what is the difference between scientific notation and otherwise, or how you ordinarily think of numbers.

1.6*10^6 is scientific notation for the number 1600000
1.55*10^-2 is scientific notation for 0.0155

All the 10^n (ten to the power of n) just makes calculations with really big or little numbers more manageable.

8 x (75+8)+100 = 764
I got this answer quite easily, i will tell you how.
I immediately saw that 8 x 8 = 64 so I needed the 700
8 x 75 = 600 and there is the 100 sitting in the numbers not used yet
so i have
8 x 75 + 8 x 8 + 100 = 764
I can factorise out the 8 to get
8(75+8)+100 = 764

Dee, There are some holes in your question, which makes it a bit tricky to answer ... 40 square feet is definitely an area but you are probably going to have to cut tiles so having more detail on your area might help (eg. maybe splashback 5 tiles high). You gave dimensions for tiles as 10 by 28. 10 by 28 what? If I assume inches then area of a tile is 280square inches. Total area is 40 square feet = 230400 square inches. 230400/280 = 822.9 ... so possibly you need at least 823 tiles

You have 2 series here
the first is h, 2h, 3h, .......15h
the second is 0, -k, -2k, ..........-14k

you find the sum of the first series and find the sum of the second series (using the formulas). Then add the two answers together.

Hi I just wanted to bump this one up.

I was mainly thinking Puzzled.

Among many other activities there are lots of maths games.
Some are easy.
But there are also some quite difficult logic puzzles. The maths isn't hard but the logic is quite challenging.
If you try the site why don't you let us know what games you tried and whether you liked it or not.
