(-8)^2 = 64

-(8^2) = - 64

Since raising to a power is generally taken to be of higher priority than negation, the expression -8^2 is interpreted as -(8^2) by most pieces of technical software.  Hence -8^2 = -64.

If x>15/6 then the term in brackets is negative and f(x) would be complex, so if we are dealing with the Real numbers only, then the domain is -infinity to 15/6 (2.5).

10/5 sqrt(34)/34 could be written as

10/5 sqrt(34)/sqrt(34)*sqrt(34)

2/sqrt(34). Your answer of 2*sqrt(34) is not accurate. Check your book carefully.

It should be division NOT multiplication.

Dividing by a fraction is the same as multiplying by the inverse of that fraction.  So if we want to divide by \(\frac{5\sqrt{34}}{34}\)

that is the same as multiplying by \(\frac{34}{5\sqrt{34}}\)

Hence we have \(10\times \frac{34}{5\sqrt{34}}\rightarrow \frac{2\times34}{\sqrt{34}}\rightarrow2\times \sqrt{34}\)

if -8 times -8 is 64 then why is -8 squared -64?,

-8 squared is NOT -64 but should be 64

If you become a scientist or engineer you will use them all the time.  If you spend your working life stacking shelves in a supermarket you'll never need them!

The average force is given by mass*acceleration.  The acceleration here is -30/25 m/s² (it is negative because it is a deceleration), so the force is -1000*30/25 = -1200 Newtons.  It is acting in the opposite direction to the direction of travel.

If he's ridden 3/4 of the way he has 1/4 of the way left to go, so just divide 472 by 4.

I think you have to use the "Impulse" formula for your problem. You also have to specify the DIRECTION that the truck is movig,i.e., Eastward, Westward.......etc.because momentum is a Vector quantity. So, you can try this formula:F = (mass * velocity change)/time=(1,000 X 30)/25=1200 Newtons, would be the magnitude of force acting on the truck. The DIRECTION is something you have to specify in advance.

If the smaller rectangle has an area of 78 and a side of 6.......the other side = 78/6 = 13

So we have

6/13 =  10/x    where x is the unknown side of the larger rectangle

Cross mutiply and we have

6x  = 130   divide both sides by 6

x = 130/6  = 65/3

So....the area of the larger rectangle = 10*(65/3)  = 650/3 = about 216.66 sq ft

Another way to see this is that the area of the larger rectangle is equal to the area of the smaller rectangle times the square of the ratio of the larger corresponding side to the smaller corresponding side

Thus:

78 * (10/6)^2   =  216.66 sq ft

We have

y = kx/z   where k is the variation constant that we need to find....so we have

6 = k*(8)/(4)

6 =k(2)     so.....k = 3

And when x = 12 and z = 9, we have

y =(3)(12)/(9) =  36/9   = 4

1/ (c - 1)  - (c + 1)/ (1 - c)           factor the negative out of the second denominator

1/(c -1) (+) - (c + 1)/ [- (c -1)]     notice that the negatives in the numerator and denominator "cancel' with each other

And we're left with

1/(c -1) + (c + 1)/(c -1)  =

(1 + c + 1) / (c -1)  =

(c + 2)/(c -1) 

Factoring out a negative is a good "trick" in some cases  !!!

It also indicates that there are no solutions to a particular problem.
