You need to know that inverse sine is exactly the same as arc sine.

$$sin^{-1}(ratio)=asin(ratio)$$

now you can use 2nd function asin

or

if you just leave your finger on sin a little longer than usual it will turn into asin

i agree! The Calculator is wrong!

If p is a prime Number: $$(p-1)!\equiv -1 \bmod p\quad or \quad (p-1)!\equiv (p-1) \bmod p$$

Example p = 23 (23 is a prime number):

(23-1)! mod 23 must be 22 ( or -1).

The Calculator said: 12

Hi all,

Another very busy day - much busier than a normal Sunday/Monday.  I think our numbers are swelling exponentially.  I guess we'll just have to cope the best we can, remembering always that members get priority. There were a smattering of very old posts appearing on the forum today.  I don't know how this happens but if we are busy it may be worth looking at the time stamp before a question is given too much attention!

Great answers were given by Heureka, CPhill, Alan, askar20106, reinout-g and Rom. Thank you all.

There were also som nice shows of appreciation from blaster0, RheyB, Jedithious and some anonymous people. 

I would like the answerers to remember that the anonymous people do not get the thumbs up sign.  They can see the points but that is all. This may make some difference to how you choose to interact with them.

Multiplying the 7 and 4 we get 28

Then multiplying the 7 times x and the 4 times x  and adding them together, we get 11x

And multiplying x times x produces x ²

And putting this together we have

x ² + 11x + 28

And that's it!!

Your calculator probably "overdosed" when it tried to calculate that "1.5" raised to a power greater than 31 million!! You probably got an "error" or "infinite" - or some such thing displayed.

Do you have any particular reason for trying to calculate such a large number??

If so...you might browse around the web......please be advised that trying to find an app that will display ALL the digits of this number is probably fruitless....

The value of 1.5^31515999 exceeds the range of the calculator here, so it just returns ∞ for this.  Interestingly, instead of just returning ∞ for the whole calculation, it returns the result as a product of the result of (1000+1000/31536000) and infinity!!

Basically, you just have to interpret this as a number too big for the calculator here to compute!

Thanks, alan....I didn't know if it was still in print, or not....I made it about halfway through the book....but I don't have enough math knowledge for some of the rest of it.....The interesting thing to me is that the "chase" for pi seemed to produce some rather interesting things in other areas, too!!

I believe that Melody is correct and we don't even need a graph to prove it.

Note that, in the first quadrant, the tangent is equal to the sine at 0, but at each angle until pi/2, the tangent is greater beause the sine function is being "divided" by 1 whlle the sine function in the tangent is being divided by a cosine function which is less than 1 (but greater than 0).

In quadrant two, the sine is positive and the tangent is negative.

This situation in quadrant 2 is reversed in quadrant 3. The tangent is positive and the sine is negative.  (They are only = at pi.)

In quadrant 4, the situation is reversed from the 1st quadrant...i.e...the sine is a smaller negative than the tangent.

Thus Melody's answer of [0, pi/2) U [pi, 3pi/2) seems good.

I bought Petr Beckmann's "A History of Pi" on my first visit to the US (a large number of years ago!) and still have it.  A fascinating book, not least because of Beckmann's writing style!  It still seems to be available on Amazon.
