Since triangles CBD  and  CAD  are on the same base (CD)...then their areas are to each other as their heights

So  

[ CAD ] / [ CBD ]  =  12 / 7

So

[ CAD ]  = (12/7) [ CBD ]

So

[ CBDA ] + [CBD ]  =  [ CAD ]

15   +   [CBD ]  =  (12/7) [ CBD ]

15  =  (12/7) [ CBD ] - [CBD ]

15  =  (12/7) [CBD ] - (7/7)[CBD]

15 = (5/7) [CBD ]

(7/5)(15)  = CBD

21  =  CBD

But  CAD  =  (12/7) [ CBD ]  = (12/7) (21) =  12 * 3  = 36  = [CDA]

Anyway, the side lengths one side length is 69 and the other is 61. 138+122=260 units.

smallest square: 2

2nd smallest: 5

3rd smallest: 7

4th smallest: 7+2=9 units

5th smallest: 16 units(9+7)

6th smallest: 16+9=25 units

7th smallest: 16+7+5=28 units

28+25+16=69 units- 1st side

8th smallest: 2+5=33 units

9th smallest(largest): 25+9+2=36 units

2nd side length: 36+25(Or, 33+28)=61 units

Thus, \(69(2)+61(2)=138+122=260\)units.

The point system is also design for askers, and other, to show their appreciation of the time and effort that the answerer has dedicated to the question. I am not sure if you ever give people a point but I know that you usually don't.

Also:

Answerers are trying to teach and also maybe to practice their own skills. They are not interested in your time scale. 

It is a total discouragement to me when someone says an answer must be done by a set time, it suggests that a timely answer, for homework or a test perhaps is of far more interest than learning how to answer the question.

I have not given up on you otherwise I would not be bothering to write all this. I will now watch and see if your behaviour is amended.

When I tried to check the answer of 26, it said that it was wrong. Can you please walk me through your thought process please.

This is what I got

 YA + AZ + BZ + BX + + CX + CY  =78

(CY + YA)  + (AZ + BZ)  +  ( BX  + CX)  = 78

But AC  = (1/3)(CY + YA + AC)    ⇒  AC - (1/3)AC  = (1/3) (CY + YA) ⇒

(2/3)AC  = (1/3)(CY + YA)  ⇒  2AC  = (CY + CA)

Similarly

2AB = (AZ + BZ)

And

2BC  = (BX + CX)

So

2 ( AC + AB + BC)  = (CY + CA) + ( AZ + BZ) + (BX + CX)

2 ( AC + AB + BC)  =  78

(AC + AB + BC)  = 39  =  perimeter of ABC

This is what I got and I feel it is right but I am not so sure, please help me on this

A = (4,8)   B  =  (2, -6)   C  = (-4, 4)

We can use the midpoint theorem to find the medians

median of  AB   =   (  [4 + 2]/ 2, [8 + -6] / 2 )  = ( 3, 1)

median of CA  =  ( [-4 + 4 ] / 2 , [ 8 + 4 ] / 2 ) =  (0, 6)

median of BC  =  ( [ -4 + 2 ] / 2 , [-6 + 4 ] / 2 )  = (-1, -1 )

Slope of line  from A  to median of  BC  =  [ 8 - -1] / [ 4 - - 1 ]  =  9/5   

Equation of the median  :  

y = (9/5)(x -4) + 8

y = (9/5)x - 36/5 + 40/5

y = (9/5)x + 4/5        (1)

Slope of line  from B  to median of CA  =  [ -6 - 6 ] / [ 2 - 0]  = -12/ 2  = -6

Equation of the median :

y = -6x + 6       (2)

Find the  x intersection of  (1)  and (2) by stting these equal

(9/5)x + 4/5 =  -6x + 6

(9/5)x + 6x  = 6 - 4/5

(9/5)x + (30/5)x  = 30/5 - 4/5

39/5x  = 26/5

39x  = 26

x = 26/39  =  2/3

And plugging  this x value into (2)  to find y, we have  -6(2/3) + 6  = -4 + 6  = 2

So...the intersection point should be  ( 2/3 , 2)

Check this in (1)  and (3)

(9/5)(2/3) + 4/5  =   18/15 + 12/15  =  30/15  = 2

(-3/7)(2/3) + 16/7  =  -6/21 + 48/21  =  42/21  = 2

So.....the medians all pass through  ( 2/3 , 2)
