Help please!! Graph f(x)=3sin(1/2x)−5. Use 3.14 for π. Use the sine tool to graph the function. The first point must be on the midline and the second point must be a maximum or minimum value on the graph closest to the first point.
See if this helps.

Here I have built the function starting with the parent graph of
step 1: f(x)=sinx
wavelength = 2pi
The graph is on the centre line at (0,0)
the centre line is y=0
Amplitude (hight from the centre line) =1
With each step click on the little circle to the left of the graph to make the graph visible.
step 2: f(x)=sin(x/2)
the only thing that has changed is the wavelength
It was 2pi now it is TWICE that. so it is 4pi
Nothing else has changed.
Step 3: f(x)=3sin(x/2)
The 3 will change the amplitude, ao amplituce is now 3.
Nothing else changes
Step 4: (x)=3sin(x/2) - 5
this drops the graph 5 units so that the centre line become y=-5
Nothing else changes.
Now I have built the graph that you want from the parent function f(x)=sinx
Please make an effort to understand what I have done.
You will need to play with the graph a bit.
Getting used to Desmos graphing calc will be an invaluable tool for you anyway.
You can finish the question for yourself now.
Hello,
Isn't it just n = 4? Because the denominator is 32 the nth term must be 1/32 (you can check this yourself.)
Also if anyone wants to take the time out please answer my question here: https://web2.0calc.com/questions/please-help_81768 (I don't know if this is soliciting if it is then sorry.)
Hope that helps!
Hello,
Since with each step you are only going down or right (not backwards) you need to travel a total distance of 6 down and 4 right. So this question is basically asking, "How many distinct ways are there of arranging 6 stars and 4 bars?" So I think the answer would be 10 choose 4 = 210 ways using stars and bars (you may want to look that up yourself.)
