This is a little equation that you are being asked to rearrange.

$$ax=b\\$$

You want the x out the front by itself.   SO you have to get rid of the  $$a$$

You can do this by dividing the LHS by $$a$$   but the equation must stay balanced.

Whatever you do to one side you must also do to the other side.

so this is what happens

$$\\ax=b\\\\
\dfrac{\not{a} x}{\not{a}}=\dfrac{b}{a}\\\\
x=\dfrac{b}{a}\\\\$$

$${\frac{{\mathtt{25}}}{{\mathtt{40}}}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{\mathtt{100}}\% = {\frac{{\mathtt{5}}}{{\mathtt{8}}}} = {\mathtt{0.625}}$$

i am confused. I will only write the fraction. Ahh! So every time that I find the percent of something, I always have to use the following method.

DS...those "exclamation marks" are called "factorials"....in simple terms, n!  = the product of the first "n" positive integers......for example:

3!  = the product of the first three positive integers = 3x 2 x 1  = 6

4! = the product of the first four positive integeers = 4 x 3 x 2 x 1  = 24

......etc......

This is a very important idea in statistics and probability. It's used to "count" things.... (sets, arrangements of objects, etc.)

and the answer is 25/40

now to change it into a percentage you multiply by 100 and add a % sign

25/40*100%    

Oh. I now get it. Even on the first post, I wrote out 8! Interesting...

No....the maximum number of turning points in a polynomial of "n" degrees = n-1

To see, this......consider a polynomial of "n" degees that has "n" real roots. The relative "maximums" and "minimums" of this polynomial (i.e., the "turning points") will occur "between" these roots and none will occur on either side of the bounds on these roots.  And the maxiumum number of extrema "between"  the "n" roots  = n-1 ...... !!!

Therefore, a 5th degree polynomial has, at max, 4 turning points
