Sorry, I meant square feet and I was thinking it was 48 sq feet.  Wrong one 2 counts.

I will try that again.

2 in = 0.0508 m

http://www.conversion-metric.org/length/inch-to-meter

$${\mathtt{48}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{\mathtt{0.050\: \!8}} = {\frac{{\mathtt{1\,524}}}{{\mathtt{625}}}} = {\mathtt{2.438\: \!4}}$$

2.4384 metres cubed

12x^3 + 3x = 321......this might best be solved by graphing......here you go.....https://www.desmos.com/calculator/fbes2leayp

A cubic like this has either 3 real roots..... or 1 real and 2 non-real roots.......this one looks as though it falls into the latter category with a real solution  at  x =  about 2.963
